Obituary for Betty Lou Cobb
Betty Lou Cobb, age 90, of Cullen, VA, passed away at home on July 31, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was married to the love of her life, Berlie, for almost 62 years, before he passed away in 2012. Together, they raised five daughters and ran a dairy farm. She helped him by preparing meals for the farm hands, running errands, working in the garden, and assisting in any way he needed. They were always together and totally devoted to each other. Betty was a faithful member of Spring Creek Baptist Church in Darlington Heights, VA, where you would often find her working in the kitchen, attending WMU meetings, and helping with Vacation Bible School. When her daughters were younger, she was the Acteens leader. She was described as being gentle and kind, and always had a smile on her face. Her husband, Berlie Cobb, predeceased her in death. She is survived by five daughters; Sharon (Tony) Coleman of Richmond; Jean Cobb of Emporia; Susan (David) Marshall of Forest; Christy (Joe) O’Connor of Ball Ground, GA; and Tammy (John) Arsenault of Cullen; seven grandchildren, Joey (Karen) Coleman of Richmond; Jeremiah (Dorine) Coleman of Portland, Oregon; Josh Coleman of Los Angeles, CA; Alex Coleman of Richmond; Grant (Brittany) Marshall of New Orleans, LA; Caitlin (Ryan) Gerber of Ontario, Canada; Ross (Lauren) Marshall of Richmond, and 10 greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, James (Buddy) Woodall and his wife Becky of Chesapeake; lifelong best friends Phyllis and Jack Atkins of Cullen, and a special cousin, Clinton Childress of Darlington Heights, VA. The family wishes to thank her faithful caregivers Teresa Howell, Lisa Traynham, Debbie Carwile, and Tracy Randolph who faithfully and patiently cared for her in the last years of her life, and allowed her to remain in the home she loved. They also wish to thank Hospice of Virginia who provided services in the last days of her life and her Grandson, Josh Coleman for preparing the video presentation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Creek Baptist Church Choir Fund; 918 Darlington Heights Rd.; Cullen, VA. 23934, or to a charity of your choice.
