Obituary for Bonnie Aileen Garnett
Funeral services and Christian Burial for Bonnie A. Garnett, 74, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, a resident of Charlotte Court House, VA will be held at 2:00p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 4554 Bethlehem Road, Charlotte Court House VA 23923. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Puckett Funeral Home, 115 Covington Court, Farmville, VA 23901. Bonnie departed for her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. She was born November 12, 1940 and raised on a dairy farm near Bellingham, Washington, the daughter of Paul and Elsie Dickson. She was the beloved wife of Thomas H. Garnett, III for 49 wonderful years. As a young woman, Bonnie traveled abroad to Europe with the national champion 4-H Dairy Judging team. After graduating from the Everett School of Nursing, Bonnie served as a flight nurse on United Airlines and then as an Officer in the US Army Nurse Corps in Germany, where she met her husband. She devoted her life to serving God, family and friends. Bonnie was a warm and loving person whose passions included sports, reading, global travel, music, art and her pets. She touched so many lives in so many ways. She will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her children; Virginia A. Turnbull (husband James) of London, Christina P. Carty (husband Stephen) of Greenwich, CT, Thomas H. Garnett, IV (wife Andrea) of Richmond, VA and Timothy R. Garnett (wife Lisa) of Arlington, VA, her grandchildren Aidan, Savannah and Scarlett Turnbull, Niamh and Aisling Carty, Quinn Garnett, and Graydon, MeriRose and Tallulah Garnett. Siblings include loving sister Linda Sorstokke (husband Ralph) and Dale Dickson (wife Robin). She was preceded by her brothers David Dickson, Michael Dickson and Daniel Dickson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 4554 Bethlehem Road, Charlotte Court House, VA 23923.
