Catherine 'Sissy' Earl Gantt Pack

April 1, 1967 — July 21, 2014

Catherine ‘Sissy’ Earle Gantt Pack, was born April 1, 1967 (the most appropriate day of the year for her) to Donald Creed Gantt Sr. and Catherine Earle Langran Gantt. She left us behind and entered Heaven on Monday, July 21, 2014. She met her loving husband, Jessie Lee Pack Jr., September 18, 1997 and married him September 19, 1998. She grew up in Farmville, moved quite a bit- but her husband brought her home. Mrs. Pack felt like she lived a “blessed and charmed” life. She was lucky enough to have parents that worked hard and sacrificed to ensure she received a great education. She was also lucky in that she had great professional opportunities. But she was MOST grateful for the luck of the love and laughter she shared with family, friends and business associates. She was said to “have never met a stranger” and truly believed that “strangers were friends she just hadn’t met, yet”. She lived life to its fullest and never passed up an opportunity to have fun and experience life. Her two most unique and self-told accomplishments were graduating from Longwood College in 1989 by taking a sign language exam over the telephone the night before graduation and becoming a mother of three without ever giving birth. She never understood why some people were dealt such wonderful hands in this world while others weren’t. Part of her prayer every night was to “Give Love, Show Kindness and Help Those Less Fortunate.” Anyone that knew her knows without a doubt she left this world with that accomplished. Mrs. Pack leaves behind her husband of 15 years, Jessie Lee Pack Jr.; three beautiful children, Joshua Lee Pack, Maria Catherine Pack and James Damian Pack; her parents, Donald Creed Gantt and Catherine Earl Langran Gantt; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen Louise Butler Pack and Jessie Lee Pack. In addition she leaves three older brothers along with their wives that became her sisters, Donald Creed Gantt Jr. (Debra), James Lewis Gantt (Lisa) and John Langran Gantt (former wife, but still sister, Tara), all of Farmville; a brother-in-law, Stephen Shane Smith; and eight amazing nieces and nephews, Emily Kay Gantt, Carter Lynn Gantt, Price Gordon Gantt, Preston Carter Gantt, John Todd Gantt, Anna Catherine Gantt, Zachary Shane Smith and Kaity Beatrice Smith Moore. If you hear thunder it’s because of the reunion of many missed loved ones going on in heaven. Come join in the celebration of her life at Fuqua School’s Gilmer Gymnasium on the Upper School Campus, Farmville, on Friday August 1 at 3 p.m., followed by a brief ceremony at Westview Cemetery. Afterwards the party will continue Saturday, August 2 at the farm commencing at 2 p.m. Bring a friend, a cocktail and a fun story! Please make donations to Maria and Damian’s college fund, “Sissy Fund” at Benchmark Community Bank, PO Box 246, Farmville, VA 23901 or any Benchmark location and/or send in every skinny picture of Sissy you can find to be plastered everywhere.
