Charles Edwin Flint

June 18, 1952 — February 12, 2019

Charles Edwin Flint, 66 of Cumberland, VA passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2019. He was born and grew up in Potsdam, New York to the late Cecil C. and Elizabeth Hilts Flint on June 18, 1952. He served his country in the US Air Force
where he was stationed overseas as a Russian translator. He then received an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Upon his return home he married the love of his life Mary Meissner on August 9, 1975. In the early eighties they left NY and came to Virginia where they have resided ever since.
Charlie was a true “Jack of all trades”, there was almost nothing he couldn’t do or fix. To know Charlie was to love him. He would never leave you without a joke (or 3) and a smile. He was always willing to help anyone in their time of need. The pride of his life was his children and grandchildren and he lovingly and sacrificially cared for his wife Mary.

He is survived by his wife Mary, a son William and wife Laura Flint of Harrisonburg, VA; a daughter Betsy and husband Matt Canipe of Scottsville, VA; a brother Nelson and wife Mary Flint of Cumberland, VA; two sisters- Patricia Francisco of Tupper Lake, NY; Dorothy Denman and husband Charles of Ithaca, NY; and 5 grandchildren; Ezekiel Flint, Henry Flint, Olivia Canipe, Elijah Canipe and Luke Canipe.
He was preceded in death by his brother George Flint and a sister Frances Morrison.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2:00PM in Hatcher Baptist Church in Cumberland. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior starting at 1:00PM.
