Chi Sun Mottley June 7, 1940 – September 3, 2019
Chi Sun “Cindy” Mottley, 79 of Pamplin, VA in Prince Edward County, died on September 3, 2019. Chi Sun was born in and originally from North Korea and came to the United States after marrying Kenneth Nordstrom, who was in the Army. Some of Chi Sun’s favorite past times were spending time with her family; cooking Korean dishes including seaweed and rice; barbecue ribs; sticky steak and Kimchi. Chi Sun enjoyed attending her Korean church in Lynchburg, VA and bringing her granddaughter Madison Dewberry with her to pass down some Korean traditions and beliefs. Chi Sun “Cindy” Mottley is survived by her granddaughter, Madison Renea Dewberry, Pamplin, VA; her brother, Larry Mottley and family, Pamplin, VA; grandson, Justin Mottley, Pamplin, VA; brother, Joseph Ray Mottley Jr. and family, Evergreen, VA; grandson, David Christopher Mottley and wife Rachel Lynn Mottley, Texas; great grandson, David Christopher Mottley Jr. Texas; great grandson, Hayden Bryce Mottley, Texas; great granddaughter, Kyia Cheynne Mottley, Texas; granddaughter, Katrina Mottley; daughter, Debbie Mottley Johnson and family, Prospect, VA; daughter, Donna Mottley Coleman and family, Prospect, VA; Stacy Dewberry Kinder, Madison’s mother and Chi Sun friend, Pamplin, VA and lifelong friend Po Kyong Chong, Winchester, VA. Chi Sun was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Nordstrom; husband, Joseph Ray Mottley, Sr; son, Robert Eugene Nordstrom; daughter in law, Carolyn Mottley; as well as family members in Korea. If any family members are not included in this obituary, please know that it is only because we didn’t know Chi Sun’s family well but do consider you a part of this tribute to her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 12:00Noon in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 11:00AM until time of service.
