Dale Lancaster Mottley

Dale Lancaster Mottley, age 88, of Prospect, VA passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
He was born in Prince Edward County, VA on May 12, 1926 to the late Edward C. and Donna Shultz Mottley.

He is survived by his wife; Shirley C. Mottley, their children; Gary Williams (Jeanne) of Prospect, and Christy M. Murphy (Patrick) of Prospect, 5 grandchildren; David Williams, Kelly Milam, Sara Marsh, Andrew Murphy, Audra Murphy, 9 great -grandchildren; D.J. Williams, Mason Williams, Levi Williams, Brooke Williams, Tucker Marsh, Sadie Marsh, Bryleigh Milam, Kaylin Milam, Charleigh Milam, 2 brothers; John Mottley (Nancy) of Prospect, Edward Mottley (Judy) of Farmville, a sister; Arlene Johnson of Farmville and dear friends Johnny and Goldie Wilkerson and Beth, Ken, Kayla and Stephanie Cook.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Joe Ray Mottley, Al Mottley and 2 sisters; Eva Smith and Lorraine McClain.

Dale served his country in the US Army during WWII. Following that he began his successful career in commercial construction. He was passionate about farming, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and father who loved all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being involved in their many different activities.

Dale was an active member of the Prospect United Methodist Church serving as Chairman of the Administrative Council for many years. He was an active member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years. He served several terms as President. Dale was a charter member of the Farmville Moose Lodge and received recognition for 50 years of membership.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00AMat Prospect United Methodist Church. Interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at Puckett Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM.
