Darrell G. Harbaum

October 16, 1924 — May 3, 2009

Darrell G. Harbaum, beloved son of the late William and Katherine Harbaum, passed away Sunday, May 3rd, 2009, at his home in Farmville, VA, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Jr., and three sisters: Maxine Jacobs of Springdale, OH, Betty Chromzack of North Lake, IL, and Shirley Littlefield of Wichita Falls, TX. He is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Burns of Mason, OH. He is also survived by l2 nieces and nephews, one godson, and close friends, Lee & Rosie Lapp and family. Darrell graduated from Trenton High School in l942 and then joined the army. He was stationed in Europe and served in the Signal Corps until l945. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in l949, earned his Masters of Music in l953, and taught at several schools and universities before moving to Farmville, VA. Darrell was a Professor of Music at Longwood College for 30 years before retiring in l992. Visitation will be at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Va. at 5:30 PM, on Wednesday, May 6, with the funeral at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Trenton Mennonite Church Cemetery, Trenton, OH, on Friday, May 8, 2009.
