Dollie Ranson Noble

September 26, 1926 — October 13, 2012

Dollie Ranson Noble, born on 9/26/1926 to the late Laura and Robert Ranson, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles I. Noble, Jr., three sisters (Helen Bull, Dot Ranson and Gladys Parsons) and four brothers (Russell, Dick, Emmitt and Billy). She is survived by a daughter Sandra and her husband Wilbur Asal, their son, Duane and daughter Melissa Giordano (her husband Tim) and their four children, Andrew, Ashley, Meghan and Lauren. A son Chuck, his wife Donna and their daughter, Jennifer. Dollie was born and educated in Prince Edward County. Prior to marrying Charles in 1946, she worked as a Civil Servant at Camp Pickett in Blackstone, VA. She went on to work at Leggett’s and Davidson’s Department Stores before joining the Prince Edward County Clerk’s Office in 1952. She became Clerk of the County in 1980 before retiring in 1987. She was a member of Bethel Church in Amelia County before joining the Farmville United Methodist Church in the early 1960’s. She was the first female to serve as Chairman of the Church Council at FUMC. Even though she was a working mother of two, her focus was always on family and friends. She loved her Church, cooking, crafts, antiquing, playing bridge and anything that brought family and friends together. She will always be remembered as the loving matriarch of her extended family. She opened her heart and home to the Noble and Ranson families at every opportunity. Everything she did was done with a smile on her face and love in her heart. During her last years at Brookview at the Woodland, she kept a smiling face in the light of adversity as she continued with daily devotions, playing bridge as much as possible, knitting shawls and washcloths and enjoying time with her many visitors and the other residents. We will all be most blessed if a little of Dollie can live on in all of us. The family will receive friends at Puckett Funeral Home on Monday, October 15, 2012 6:00-8:00pm. There will be a private interment. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Farmville United Methodist Church at 212 High Street in Farmville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Farmville United Methodist Church, PO Box 64 Farmville, VA 23901 or Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Ray Pembelton 7691 Pembelton Drive Amelia, VA 23002.
