Donald Richard Reid

Donald Richard Reid 68 of Farmville, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He was born in Melbourne FL to the late Mabel Henderson Reid and Richard Reid. He graduated from Melbourne High School in 1965 and went to work for Braniff Airlines in Chicago. After employment with Braniff Airlines, National Airlines and service in the U.S. Air Force, he graduated from Eastern Tennessee State with a B.S. He was in human resource management with Milliken Industries in S.C. and G.A., Brasscroft in N.C. and Carpenter in Richmond, VA. He joined Stackpole Co and moved to Farmville in 1982 and later became a State Farm Insurance agent until his retirement in 2001.
He was an avid NY Yankee, ETSU Buccaneer and Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved “kitty cats” and squirrels.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Linda Bagley Reid, a daughter Leigh Allison Reid of Boone, NC 2 sons; Roland Richard Reid, of Farmville, Alexander Richard Reid of Appomattox, 6 grandchildren, Emma, Ivan, Freyja, Clara, Ada, Ursa Tzotschew of Boone NC.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pisgah Baptist church, Rice, VA. Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family. www.puckettfh.com
