Dorothy Jean Watson

Dorothy Watson passed away at Southside Community Hospital on January 13, 2009.

Dorothy was born in Newington, Connecticut on June 16, 1929. She began her life-long career in nursing in the Air Force, followed by work in a physicians practice, then moving on to 38 years of service at Southside Community Hospital, devoting herself to providing quality care to generations of local citizens.

She is survived by her husband James W. Watson, Sr.; her four children, James W. Watson, Jr; Suzanne Hayes; Douglas C. Watson, Gregory A. Watson; her brother Richard P. Rowland; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Farmville United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Trinity Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving family and friends at Puckett Funeral Home between 7:00 and 8:30 PM on Wednesday, January 14. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Farmville United Methodist Church, or the FACES food bank. Puckett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cemetery:
Interment will be held in Trinity Memorial Gardens following the service on Thursday.

Visitation:
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 14, 2009 7:00-8:30PM at the funeral home.

Service:
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 15, 2009 11:00AM at Farmville United Methodist Church.
