Earlma "Rosie" Riegle Blessing

Blessing, Earlma Rosemary, of Farmville, VA departed this life on June 7, 2019. She was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana on March 31, 1929 to the late Donald Earl Riegle and Lucille Redman Riegle.
Rosie, as she was affectionately known by all, is survived by Carl Blessing Jr, her husband of 64 years and Donald C. Blessing, her son and judge for the tenth Judicial Circuit (Susan); Jason Alexander Blessing and Nicholas Scott Blessing, her grandsons; William G. Martindale (Michelline) and Jon Logan Jones, step grandsons and Lucy M. Martindale and Annie Martindale her step great granddaughters. Donald “Donnie” Earl Riegle, Jr (Carolyn), her beloved brother, predeceased her. She had numerous nieces and a nephew.
Always an extremely hard worker, Rosie was a check-out clerk at Safeway, a teller and later a loan officer at Virginia National Bank. She finished her career with 25 years of service to the citizens of Prince Edward County in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office where she ultimately retired as Clerk of Court. Her portrait was predominantly displayed there at the insistence of her co-workers.
She loved people and working with the public.
Rosie was an excellent, strong, supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother devoting herself to her family and home which was filled by her passion for antiques and the aroma of her wonderful cooking. Often it was difficult for her to contain her pride in and love for her family and their accomplishments.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM – 2:00PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Puckett Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow immediately thereafter with interment in Westview Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to either the Farmville United Methodist Church (her church for 50 years) or Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
