Edith Davis Brooks Wamsley (Eday) of Tucker, GA died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her home. Eday was born in Burkeville, VA, the daughter of the late Edgar Davis Brooks and Ruby Overton Brooks and grew up in Farmville, VA. She attended Farmville State Teachers College, now Longwood University, and graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a B.S. in Nursing. She was employed at Southside Community Hospital and later worked as a nurse for Longwood College. She was a member of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Judith Randolph Chapter, in Farmville, VA and the Decatur First United Methodist Church of Decatur, GA.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob H. Wamsley, II (Jake), and one son, Jacob H. Wamsley, III (Jay) and his wife, Kelley. Also three grandchildren, Jacob Wamsley, IV, Cyrena Harrington and Addison Wamsley.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 2:00pm at Westview Cemetery in Farmville, VA. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Decatur First United Methodist Church, Chapel Renovation Fund, 300 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030-2699.
