1925-2021

George Willard “Bill” Robertson, 95, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on April 4, 2021, in Farmville Virginia.
Bill was born in Crewe, VA in 1925 and graduated from Crewe High School. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war he returned to Crewe and began his career as a printer at the Crewe Chronicle. After getting married in 1951, he moved to Alexandria, VA to work as a printer for National Publishing Co. and then for the Government Printing Office where he worked for over 40 years, the last eight years of his career detailed to the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee. Bill was an avid gardener and runner, competing in the Marine Corp Marathon several times, as well as the Boston Marathon.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of over 56 years, Anne M. Robertson, as well as his grandson, Michael Robertson. He is survived by his son, Bruce Robertson (Mary) of Springfield, VA; daughter, Sidney Robertson of Alexandria, VA; and grandson, Matthew Robertson (Jessica) of Bonita, CA.
No services are scheduled. Bill’s family will have a private interment of his ashes in Crewe, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meal on Wheels/Senior Services of Alexandria or to the charity of your choice.
