Hattie Hazel Arrington Templeton

Hattie Hazel Arrington Templeton passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 at her daughters home in Farmville, Virginia. She was born February 24, 1920 in Danville, Virginia. She was the oldest of 11 children born to David Stokely Arrington and Grace Sams Arrington. She was predeceased by her husband, Noah, her sisters, Lucy Simpson and Faye Meredith and her brothers, Melvin, Ralph, Howard, and Paul Arrington.
After she graduated from Charlotte High School in 1938, Hattie and Noah were married that August in Cullen, Virginia. In 1942 they bought a farm near Abilene where they lived and reared their children. Surviving are her daughter, Hazel Harrison and her husband, George, of Farmville, her son, Murray Templeton and his wife, Alice, of Crewe, daughters, Karen Gibson and her husband, Henry, of Cullen, Linda McClung and her husband, Ronald of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Wanda Stewart and her husband, Ned, of Bangkok, Thailand, and Marcia Templeton of Cullen. Also surviving are granddaughters Camille Rabon, Melanie Kay, and Debbie Ziherl. Surviving grandsons are Robert Templeton, Patrick Templeton, Nolan Gibson, Ronald McClung, Mark McClung, and Martin Stewart. Her surviving great-grandchildren are David Templeton, Noah and Liam McClung, Michael, Alexia, and Kathryn Kay, Seth Rabon, Hunter and Jacob Gibson, Taylor and Keagan McClung, Kristin and Ashley Ziherl, and Jordan Anderson. Also surviving are her sisters, Betty Noblin, Bessie Munford, Shirley Richardson, Ruth Garrow, and brothers, Tom and Kenneth Arrington. Hattie worked at Baldwins Department Store in Farmville for 30 years. She loved sewing, quilting, reading, and playing the guitar. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Family night will be held 6 8 PM, Saturday, May 22nd at Puckett Funeral Home, 115 Covington Court, Farmville Virginia. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 24th 11:00am at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church near Abilene. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Gary Baker, Treasurer, 12815 County Line Road, Keysville, Virginia, 23947 or to Hospice of Virginia, 202 Clark St., Farmville, VA 23901.
