J.L. Bagley

July 27, 1916 — February 3, 2010

Mr. Jewell L. Bagley J.L. born July 27, 1916 in Kaufman, Texas to the late Bert and Bessie Bagley went to Heaven on February 3, 2010. He married his friend and life-long sweetheart, Lou on February 16, 1936. He served in the United States Army Air force during World War II in the Philippines. He worked 32 years with the Veterans Administration placing special needs veterans in various VA facilities. He was a member of the Farmville Lodge #41 AF and AM. Mr. Bagley was raised as a Methodist and at the age of 38 he joined the Baptist Church and went on to serve as a Deacon in the church. He was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church in Farmville.
In addition to his wife he leaves behind two daughters, LuAnne ONeill and husband, Bob of Chesapeake and Linda Reid and husband, Don of Farmville; his grandchildren, Bryan ONeill of Denver, CO, Kris ONeill of Chesapeake, Leigh Reid-Tzotschew and huband, Andreas of Boone, NC, Roland Reid of Farmville and Alexander Reid of Cullen; six great grandchildren and a host of friends in Farmville where he resided since 1989.
The family wishes to thank so many people for their kindness and generosity shown during his recent illness, especially the staff The Woodland (Moores Rehab Center), Southside Community Hospital and Lynchburg General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 7, 2010 3:00PM at Heritage Baptist Church in Farmville (weather permitting). Interment will be held at a later date. Family will receive friends Sunday, February 7, 2010 2:00 3:00PM at Heritage Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church, International Mission Board-(Haiti Relief), Special Olympics or to your favorite charity.
