John Doyne Simpson

John Doyne Simpson, age 58, of Prospect, VA passed away on November 8, 2018.
He was born on July 11, 1960 to Averette Simpson, Jr. and Lucy Tucker Doyne in Farmville, VA.​
He owned and operated a local lawn care business where his customers were more like family. He took great joy in serving the Lord. He loved fellowshipping while preparing stew for the local churches and working with the Gideons. Family and friends knew Doyne as “Touch” as he always had the ability to fix things around the farm with a touch of twine and duct tape.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Daniel Simpson; grandparents, Ward and Ruth Simpson and John Tucker and Ruth Doyne.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Simpson; daughter, Danielle Bappert (David); son, Judson Simpson; grandson, Austin Bappert; granddaughter, Bree Bappert; mother, Lucy Doyne; father, Averette Simpson, Jr. (Mary Kay); siblings, David Simpson (Robyn), Derek Simpson (Rebecca), Alisa Simpson, Amy Wynne (Jason), Josh Simpson (Kelly), Ruth Simpson; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his beloved dachshunds, Jasper, Sandy, and Shagg.

A Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 10:00 am at Prospect Gospel Tabernacle with interment at Appomattox P. E. Presbyterian Church in Prospect. Family will receive friends Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Puckett Funeral Home.
