Obituary for Marie Metcalf Carson
Marie Metcalf Carson, 90 of Cullen, VA passed away at her home on
Wednesday, June 1, 2016. She was born on October 10, 1925 to the late
Frank and Burgie Allman Metcalf. She was married to her love of 65
years Howard L. Carson who preceded her in death. She was an active
member of Madisonville Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and
in the WOC. Marie was well known for her southern hospitality and her
lemon and coconut cakes. She lived on the family farm and said “the
best thing about going away was coming home”.
She is survived by her children; William Howard Carson (Jane) of
Scottsburg, VA, David Lee Carson (Yvonne) of Pamplin, VA, Roger Lewis
Carson (Debbie) of Appomattox, VA, a sister; Pauline Dunnavant of
Farmville, VA, grandchildren; Scott Carson, Susan Hamlette, Kathy
Robinson, Ryan Carson, Becky Ryan, Jennifer Poole, 10 great
grandchildren; Wyatt Robinson, Cameron Carson, Kate Robinson, Riley
Carson, J.D. Carson, Alex Carson, Tristan Carson, Regina Carson, Paul
Hamlette and Payton Ryan.
Marie was preceded in death by 10 brothers and 2 sisters and a
grandchild, Matthew Carson.
Marie was dedicated to her family, friends and was well loved by her
church and community.
Her family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers;
Barbara Hunter, Pam Harris, Jane Marion and Patricia Harden.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 3:00PM in Madisonville Presbyterian Church, Cullen, VA. Family will receive friends from 1:00PM - 3:00PM prior to service at the church. Interment will be in church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Madisonville Presbyterian Church, 1358 County Line Rd, Cullen, VA 23934.
