Mary Elizabeth Yeatts

Mary Elizabeth Yeatts, 93, of Rice, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Farmville. Born July 29, 1919 in Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Virgie Moore. She loved flowers and enjoyed her time gardening. She also spent time challenging herself with crossword puzzles, as well as continuing to be an active member of the Pisgah Baptist Church in Rice. Mrs. Yeatts leaves behind five children, Edith Y. Scruggs, Bobby N. Yeatts, John H. Yeatts, Barbara Y. Case and Emily J. Yeatts; three sisters, Bessie Bowman, Helen Bowman and Lois Linville. In addition to her five children, she was blessed to be called “Nannie” or “Granny” by 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Noel Yeatts, four brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home on Friday, October 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 11 a.m. at Pisgah Baptist Church, Rice, with the Rev. Earl Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice. The family asks that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Pisgah Baptist Church, 202 Pisgah Church Road, Rice, VA 23966.
