Mckay Edward 'Mac' Massey

McKay Edward “Mac” Massey, age 86, of Farmville, VA passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013. He was born on March 21, 1927, in Bryson City, NC to the late Geneva Cunningham Massey and Kenneth Massey. He enlisted in the US Navy on Feb 27, 1945 and did his recruit training in Bainbridge, MD. He served in various duty stations, including the USS Alaska. He received the American Theatre Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. In the service, he was a rifle marksman. Back at home, he worked as a meat cutter and was known as “Mac the Knife” and was a popular local musician. On May 4, 1949, he married the love of his life, Betty Mull, and they had 64 happy years together. He is survived by his wife, Betty Mull Massey, a son, T. Keith Massey and his wife Diana and 3 grandchildren; Ryan, Alexa and Sarah Massey. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until time of service. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
