Michael A. Silveira, Jr.

November 17, 1925 — July 20, 2009

Michael A. Silveira, Jr departed this life peacefully with his family at his side on July 20, 2009. Born in Santiago de Cuba on November 17, 1925, he was the son of Miguel A. Silveira, Sr. and Luz del Carmen Silveira. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of sixty years, Dr. Maria Caridad Milin-Silveira, his brother, Dr. Jorge Antonio Silveira (June), four daughters--Maria Harris Lenett (Steve), Mireya S. Hayes (Grant), Rosa S. Mann (Edward), Virginia S. Gills (Ryan)--seven grandchildren, Eleina, Anne Carrington, Grant, Michael Leighton, Laura Elizabeth, Holden, Addison, and five great-grandchildren. He immigrated from Cuba in 1962 and continued his work as an engineer in both New Jersey and Central Virginia before moving to Farmville where he was the Director of Audio Visual and Technical Support Services at Longwood College retiring after 25 years of service. He was a kind, loving and supporting husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend and a man of few words whose thoughts were respected by all. He was a true gentleman.
The family will receive visitors at Puckett Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, from 5:30-8:00 PM. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Thursday, July 23, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at the Parrish Center. A private interment will be held at a later date. Donation may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, the Prince Edward County Volunteer Rescue Squad, or the Silveira Scholarship at Longwood University.

Cemetery:
Interment will be private.

Visitation:
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009 5:30-8:00PM.

Service:
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 11:00AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
