Obituary for Peggy Leigh Turner
Peggy Leigh Turner went to be with her best friend and Savior, Jesus on Monday August 30, 2021. She was a wife, mom, grandma, friend, writer, artist, antique dealer, and advocate for the poor in spirit. Peggy was born on December 24, 1942, to Everette and Elizabeth Tucker, who predecease her.
She is survived by her devoted husband-Morgan (Bert) Turner Jr, loving daughter- Dixie McDowell (Joee), her twin grandchildren, Morgan and Olivia, who were the apple of her eye and loved their “NeNe” fiercely.
Peggy is also survived by her brother- Buddy Tucker (Ann), special sister in law- Anne Linares, niece-Katherine Linares, and great nephew- Ghazi Mohammad- Jones, three special cousins, whom she fondly referred to as “blood roots”, Carole Dare Dobbins, Dianne Goff, and Beverly Simpson. She also leaves to cherish many years of friendship and memories, a dear friend, Pat Taylor of Crewe.
She spend most of her life in the Crewe/ Burkeville area and was known for her creativity, giving spirit, and her antique shops, “The Write Choice” and “The Foxxe Shop.”
Peggy loved life, had a passion for God, country, and justice for all; her passion increased as the years went by. Peggy was a lifelong learner, attending VCU, Longwood, SVCC, and she continued to read history and theological studies her entire life. Never bored with life, she sought out those who needed aid and spiritual encouragement, devoting time for and with those to whom God led her.
We are so thankful to know she is pain free, no longer dealing with the challenges of her physical body and mind, but is in the Arms of Jesus, healthy and whole again. Memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA or animal shelter, or The Navajo Water Project DIGDEEP is a 501(c)(3). Your gift is tax-deductible. EIN 46-0686920 Our mailing address is P.O. Visitation will be at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville on Thursday September 2, 6-8pm. Peggy’s Homegoing Celebration will be Friday September 3, 11am at Puckett Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Crewe Cemetery.
