Phyllis Oakes Martin

Phyllis Oakes Martin, 78 of Rice, VA., passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Sonny” Martin and one great grandson, Wyatt Daniel Norton.
She is survived by two sons, Michael “Mickey”Martin (Dianne) of Dinwiddie, VA; Tony Martin (Kathy) of Pamplin, VA; two grandchildren, Dan Martin and Carrie Norton (Kevin) and one great grandchild, Landon Wade Norton, all of Dinwiddie, VA.
She is also survived by four brothers, Bobby Oakes (Vicky), Mack Oakes (Mable), Danny Oakes (Gloria) and Norman Oakes (Rita) all of Rice; one sister, June Thomas (Bill) of Richmond, VA.
She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
She retired from Southside Electric Cooperative, Crewe, VA. as Central District Manager with 25 years of service.
The family will receive family and friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, VA. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, December 20, 2015 in the chapel of Puckett Funeral home. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, VA.
