Obituary for Richard 'Wally' Clayton Walters
Walters, Richard Clayton “Wally,” 60, of Crewe, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013. He was born on March 13, 1953 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Richard Edgar Walters and Mary Ellen Walters, both deceased. He was a Vietnam-era veteran who served in the United States Army. Wally was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and of his local community. He could make a friend out of anyone he ever met and was always ready to share a story or joke. Wally could fix anything and was the first to help anyone in need. There aren’t enough words in the universe to describe him. He will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by Elizabeth, his loving wife of 23 years; his four daughters, Jane, Mary Ruth, Charlotte, and Margaret, all of Crewe, Va.; his siblings, Sue Turner (Bill), Larry Jamison (Joann), John Walters (Jill), Jeff Walters (Kathy), Carl “Butch” Merritt (Tricia), Nancy Woods (Jerry), and Mary; as well as his uncle and two aunts, cousins, in-laws, countless nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He is also survived by Dirk, Jeff, and Yvonne Gorecki of Germany, and Brent Durant of Pennsylvania. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, from 6 to 8 PM at Puckett Funeral Home, 115 Covington Court, Farmville, Va. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 15, at 5:30 PM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 709 Buffalo Street, Farmville, Va. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wally to the Disabled American Veterans (P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250) or to the St. Theresa Catholic Church Food Pantry (709 Buffalo Street, Farmville, Va.).
