Albert Franklin Watson, known to many as Frank, age 91, of Cumberland, Virginia, passed away

on October 23, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1935, in Rice, Virginia, to the late James

Kenneth Watson and Mattie Lee Jones Watson.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Merle Seal Watson; his children, Jennifer

(Herbert) and Albert Franklin Watson Jr., known as “Bert”; his grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke

(Thomas); his great-granddaughter, Paige; his two sisters, Shirley Watson Rindahl of Minnesota

and Ruby Ross (Ernie) of Farmville, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, James William Watson (Dorothy) and Thomas

Edward Watson.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he

worked at Philip Morris in Richmond, Virginia, for 33 years, dedicating many years of hard work

and service.

Frank was also a faithful member and deacon of Tarwallet Baptist Church, where he served his

church and community.

Frank enjoyed barbecuing chicken and making Brunswick stew in the fall. He was a devoted fan

of UVA football and the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and

traveling. These were some of his favorite pastimes.

Above all, Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a

kindness, generosity, and unconditional love made him one of a kind. He will be deeply missed,

and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
