Doris Cox Bellofatto passed away peacefully at The Woodland retirement community, Farmville, Virginia on September 4, 2019 at age 81. She resided in Farmville, VA with her husband of 38 years, Joseph Bellofatto. Having previously lived in Henderson, NC, they spent the last five years at The Woodland.
Originally from Caswell County, North Carolina, Doris was born on January 7, 1938. She was the daughter of Maggie (Lawrence) and Charlie A. Cox. She was the mother of Keith Hall (Lynn), Michael Hall, and Jeffrey Hall (Anita), and was the grandmother of April and Kira. She was preceded in death by her brother Curtis Allen Cox, brother Billy Wayne Cox, and sister Anne C. Bailey.
Doris attended Heritage Baptist Church in Farmville, VA and was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church in Henderson, NC. She was a nurse for various health organizations, including Duke University Hospital. In addition to memberships in the Old North State Tea Society and North Carolina Red Hat Society, she enjoyed Royal Teas, arts & crafts, travel, and local excursions. Doris will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at The Woodland Chapel, Brookview, 2003 Cobb St., Farmville, Virginia 23901 on Monday, November 4, 2019 beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by refreshments in The Woodland Veranda.
