Doris Old Davis of Farmville, VA passed away on July 26, 2026. Born in South Norfolk, VA on April 2, 1929 to Hugh Nathaniel Old and Eva Elizabeth Old, Doris moved to Farmville to attend Longwood College where she received her degree in Elementary Education and later earned her Masters in Reading. While attending Longwood College she met and later married Robert Lee Davis of Cumberland, VA. After teaching in Cumberland and Prince Edward Counties, Doris spent the majority of her career at Prince Edward Academy. She retired from the Virginia Beach School System where she was a Reading Specialist. While living in Farmville, Doris was a member of many organizations including ADK sorority, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Longwood Alumni Association, and the Garden Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Hugh Nathaniel Old Jr.. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Gail Kidd (Rick), her son, Robert Nathaniel Davis (Jane), her sister Shirl Bennett, and her grandchildren Joel and Hannah Kidd and Brianna Davis. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Puckett Funeral Home on August 6, 2026 at 11:00, funeral service will follow at 12:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmville Presbyterian Church. The family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Brookview Assisted Living and Hospice of Virginia.
