Mylum, Ellis Clark, 93,passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturday, November 14, 2015. He
was born on August 31,1922, just outside of Farmville to Charles Preston and Kate F. Mylum.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife,Stuart Garrett. Together they celebrated over 50
years of marriage.
Ellis served in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Okinawa waiting to go to Japan when the
bomb was dropped. Upon returning home from the war, he spent his working years with
Bethlehem Steel and American Bridge. He was a faithful member of Centenary United
Methodist Church which he and Stuart attended for many years.
He is survived by his stepson, Dennis B. Allen of Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. James R. Cleveland of
Atlanta; his nieces: Dennis E. Young, Margaret Greer,( Robert) and step-niece, Jackie Mylum, all
of Richmond; Jean Marston, Farmville; lois Pope of Carrollton and one nephew, lacy W.
Mylum (Catherine) of Farmville; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express thanks and appreciation for all the loving care he received
while a resident at The Hermitage.
A memorial service will be held at Centenary UMC at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 21,
followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centenary
United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held following the memorial service at Westview Cemetary in
Farmville, Virginia at 3:00P.M.
