Elsie May Daman, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and a truly compassionate soul, peacefully passed away at home on February 24, 2026, at the age of 84. Her life was a shining testament to kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion of love to her family, faith, community, and all living beings.

Elsie May was predeceased by her husband, Howard Earl Daman, and her parents, Thomas LeRoy and Elsie May Russell. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas LeRoy Russell, and her sister, Rebecca Lee Russell McCormick.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 2, 1941, Elsie May’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished and loved unconditionally her children, Russell LeRoy and Roxann Elaina, and extended her love to grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, adopted family, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her nurturing spirit and generous heart touched countless lives, always giving her time and kindness without hesitation.

Elsie May’s passion for life was deeply rooted in her love for animals. Her compassion extended beyond her loved ones to support no-kill shelters and her dedicated work training guide dogs for the blind. Her gentle spirit reflected her unwavering faith and her love for all creatures, demonstrating her belief in kindness, humility, and service.

Throughout her life, Elsie May quietly gave to those in need, often staying out of the spotlight but leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her philosophy was simple yet profound: “You can be a survivor, or you can be a victim,” and she exemplified resilience and grace in every challenge she faced. Even in sickness or pain, her caring nature never faltered; she prioritized her loved ones above all else.

Elsie May’s legacy is one of unyielding kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. Her life was a reflection of her gentle spirit and her dedication to making the world a better place. She is survived by her children, Russell LeRoy and Roxann Elaina and so many other loved ones and friends whose lives she enriched. Her memory will forever inspire love, strength, resilience, and compassion in all who knew her.

A celebration of Elsie May’s life will be held at Puckett Funeral Home Farmville, Va on March 2, 2026, at noon. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor her beautiful life and enduring legacy.
