Glenda Pond Hudson

Glenda Pond Hudson formerly of Farmville, VA, passed away in Chesapeak, VA on January 8, 2013. Glenda Pond Hudson was born on June 25, 1923 in Oklahoma to Victor and Sybil Shemwell Pond. She grew up in Pocahontas, Ark and Louisville, KY. While attending Southern Seminary in Louisville, she met the Rev. Virgil L. Hudson and they were married in August of 1947. She was the pianist for Rev. Hudson’s churches at Lakeside Baptist, Richmond, Evergreen Baptist Church, Appomattox, and Pinecrest Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA. Additionally, she served as Virginia’s WMU president, Secretary of Portsmouth Baptist Association as well as working in the private sector. Glenda Hudson was preceded in death by her husband in 2010 and 15 year old son, Kyle Wayland Hudson in June of 1963. She is survived by a son; L. Garrick Hudson and wife Angela of Farmville, VA and a daughter, Lynnette H. Pope and husband Mike of Chesapeake, VA; a granddaughter; Jessica M. Pope at Longwood University, and a grandson; Richard M. Pope Jr. A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, January 10 2012 at 2:00PM in the Evergreen Cemetery, Appomattox County.
