James Patrick Carey

James P. “Pop” Carey, 80 of Cumberland, VA passed away on November 17, 2019 at his home. He was born in Roanoke, VA on April 20, 1939 to the late Patrick J. and Ruth Virginia Carey. He was married to the love of his life the late Jo E. Carey for 55 years. He was a member of White Hall Methodist Church. He was retired from Rea Construction Co. His claim that the only reason he worked was his love of the outdoors.

He is survived by a son Layne Carey of Cumberland, VA; a daughter Ava Marie Burns of Cumberland, a sister Marie Ward of Marietta, GA; 2 brothers Mike Carey of Virginia Beach, VA and Richard Carey of Norfolk, VA., two grandchildren; Hunter P. Burns and the late Mindy Anderson and 3 great grandchildren.

All services will be private.
