Jane Compton Crews

Jane Compton Crews, 81, of Farmville, passed away March 6, 2026. Born July 20, 1944 to the late Charlotte Painter Compton and Paul George Compton of Roanoke. Jane was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Virginia Intermont College, Lynchburg College, Virginia Commonwealth University and Longwood College. She was a lifelong educator teaching in Richmond, Pittsburgh and Farmville. Mrs. Crews was loved by many & loved her students equally in return.

She is survived by her children, Allison Crews and her son Gregory Gibbs, Jr. and John Crews and his family, along with her brother Eddie Compton and his wife Ann of Lynchburg and their family.

Services will be held March 11th at Puckett with visitation from 6-7 and the service at 7pm. Private interment in Evergreen Cemetery in Roanoke will follow. Donations can be made in her honor to Waterworks Players Community Theater.
