Kathryn M. Jenkins, 79, of Rice, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 11, 2025. Kathryn was born on October 11, 1945, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late James M. and Marvel N. Mustard. She was married to Winbern W. Jenkins, Jr., for 57 years. Kathryn graduated from Longwood University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She taught first grade at Prince Edward County Elementary School for many years. Kathryn and Winbern owned and operated Teaching Tools, an educational supply business which served Farmville and the surrounding counties for over two decades. She was also heavily involved in the Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she was recognized for her achievements in genealogical research. Kathryn also devoted much of her time to the Centra Hospice volunteer program. She enjoyed spending summers at her family’s cottage at Sandbridge Beach, Virginia, as well as visiting her family’s homeplace in Ceres, Virginia.
Kathryn is survived by her husband Winbern W. Jenkins, Jr., her two sons David G. Jenkins (Allison) and Paul R. Jenkins (Tanisha), her grandchildren Jackson B.W. Lamm, Jenneson M. Jenkins, and Jameson G. Jenkins, her brother James M. Mustard, Jr., and numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her sister Elizabeth M. White and her brother Joseph P. Mustard.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 2:30PM to 4:30PM at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, Virginia.
