Kathryn Ayres Morris

Morris, Kathryn A, 93, of Buckingham County, passed away April 24,2016 in Farmville, VA.

She was born November 11, 1932 in Buckingham County. She was the daughter of the late

James Thomas and Sarah Baughn Ayres of Buckingham.

Kathryn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active

member of Concord Baptist Church. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, cooking,

taking care of her family and helping to manage the farm.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lawrence Earl Morris. She is survived

by her son, Lawrence Claiborne Morris, his wife Roma; and her daughter Susan Morris

Underwood, her grandchildren, Elizabeth “Libby” Morris Bowman (Daniel), Matthew James

Underwood, and Ashley Underwood Copeland (Caleb). She is also survived by 2

great-granddaughters, Abigail and Brinkley, her brothers Billy Ayres of Austin,Texas, Edward

Ayres of Williamsburg and her sister Doris Ayres McElfresh (Will) of Williamsburg and

numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend and caretaker Mary Yoder. She was

preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Brown and brother, James T. “JT” Ayres.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 1 ,2026, at Concord Baptist Church,

Sheppards, church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
