Lois Pobst Gager passed away on April 12, 2026, at the incredible age of 95. She was a loving
and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Lois was born in Fairfax County on March 29, 1931, to the late Rufus and Verna Pobst.
She was a graduate of Fairfax High School Class of 1948.
In 1959, Lois and her husband John Gager moved to their farm in Buckingham County.
Lois worked for many years with the Farmville Herald alongside her longtime best friend
Betty Meadows. Upon her retirement from the Herald, she maintained a very active and
involved life. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Church, Ruth Adam’s Garden Club,
her High School Sports Club and she pursued many special interests and hobbies.
She loved to travel with her husband and spend time with friends, family, her treasured
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois loved being in service to others which was witnessed by her kind and generous
spirit. She was a creative person who loved to sew, paint, and garden. Her yard was
admired by many. Lois loved a good yard sale or thrift store and finding a hidden
treasure for herself or others.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Gager, her two sons Gary and Johnny
Hall, her sister Shirley Young and a very special niece, Marie Ann Smith.
She is survived by her 2 daughters Theresa Marsh (Danny) and Sarah Trimble (Frank)
her two daughters in law Laurie Hall and Jamee Hall. Her grandchildren, Sandra Damer,
Guy Madison, Chase and Brett Hall, Brian and Brandon Marsh, Brayden, Olivia, Samuel
Trimble, Amy Dean, John Russell and Joshua Hall. Her great grandchildren Koben,
Selah and Brantzen Damer, Brooke Williams, Tucker and Sadie Marsh, David, Caleb
and Cora Madison and Edward Hall. And her devoted niece Laura Majer and a host of
friends who became family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Theresa’s Catholic
Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on May 9th at 10 am with
interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
