Neil Francis O'Donohue

Neil F. O'Donohue, 82, of  Keysville, Virginia, and formerly of Fredonia, New York,  passed away February 28th, 2024.

Neil was born November 25th, 1941 to Daniel J. O'Donohue and Evelyn R. (Gould) O'Donohue in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn and attended Regis High School, Fordham University, and Cornell Medical School.

In 1968, he married Frances M. Castilone of Fredonia, NY and in 1969 began serving in the U.S. Navy as a medical officer aboard the U.S.S. Woodrow Wilson. Following his service, Neil and Frances settled in Fredonia, New York where they raised two children, Evelyn and Stephen. In 1993, the family relocated to Farmville, VA, where he was a longtime member of the John's Memorial Episcopal Church parish and choir.  Neil was a dedicated physician, practicing radiology across numerous hospitals in New York and Virginia for over 40 years.

In addition to his love of classical music and singing, Neil was an avid long distance runner, completing numerous marathons throughout his 30's, 40's, and 50's. He was also an accomplished amateur pilot and enjoyed flying with his family. However, he was probably most happy at home, spending time with his beloved rescue greyhounds, enjoying the view from his window, and reading good books.

Neil was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Evelyn, and by Frances, who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Zornoza, son, Stephen, and three grandchildren, Rafael Zornoza, Aria O'Donohue, and Isabel O'Donohue.

A memorial service will be held at Johns Memorial Church, 400 High Street in Farmville, VA on Saturday, April 6th 2024 at 11 am.  In remembrance of Neil, his family asks that in lieu of flowers, you please donate instead to Star City Greyhounds of Roanoke, VA, https://starcitygreyhounds.org/
