Richard F. "Dicky" Williams Jr., 80, of Pamplin, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on June 15, 2026.

Dicky was a graduate of Appomattox County High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that remained an important part of his life. After returning home, he earned his bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech and remained a lifelong Hokie fan.

A hardworking businessman, Dicky owned and operated R.F. Williams Lumber Company, manufacturing pallets for more than 20 years before retiring. He spent his later years enjoying life on the family farm, where he found great pleasure in the simple things he loved most. Attending auctions was a favorite pastime, and he never passed up an opportunity to search for a good find.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard F. Williams Sr. and Leah Simpson Williams.

He is survived by his former wife, Patricia Williams of Farmville, Virginia; his son, Jason Williams of Pamplin, Virginia; his daughter, Ami Williams (Kyle) of Midlothian, Virginia; and his sisters, Betsy Dodson (Jeff) of Savannah, Georgia, and Emily Turnure (Marvin) of Tybee Island, Georgia. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A special place in his heart was reserved for his beloved Springer Spaniel, Sally Byrd, whose faithful companionship brought him comfort, joy, and unwavering friendship.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Stacy Graves, Libby Robertson, Jackie Smith, Tracey Napier, and Thelma Grove, who provided compassionate care and support during his final years, and to the staff of Centra Hospice—especially Diann Pickett—for their kindness, comfort, and dedication.

A private burial will take place at a later date.
