Mr. Roscoe Carl Thompson, 85, of Buckingham, Virginia, died August 21, 2015. Roscoe was a construction superintendent with Andrews, Large and Whidden for many years and ultimately retired from Kenbridge Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and puttering around in his workshop.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Thompson (Teresa), Steven Thompson (Becky), and Gary Thompson (Kim), all of Cumberland, Virginia; brothers, David Daniel Thompson of Bumpass, Virginia, Clayton Gray Thompson, of Cumberland, Virginia, and a sister, Minnie Rose Anderson of Cumberland, Virginia; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Josephine Absher Thompson; his father and mother, Arthur James and Bertha Payne Thompson; brothers, Lewis Herbert Thompson, George Paul Thompson, and Earl Arthur Thompson; and by sisters, Della Ruth Mendez, Betty Bertha Hubbard, Dora Ethel Mendez, and Lucy May Thompson.
Family visitation will be at his residence from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1711 Gravel Hill Road, Dillwyn, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad (Dillwyn), Post Office Box 444, Dillwyn, VA 23936.
