She is survived by her husband, Douglas Shipman Farley; her four children D. Shay
Farley (Christy), Tiffany Capati (Rodney), Mark Farley (Sarah), Leah Reed (Matt), her parents
Robert S.and Carol Shanaberger; her siblings, Steve Shanaberger (Sandy), Jeanne Hayden
(John), Jeff Shanaberger, Gary Shanaberger; her seven grandchildren who lovingly called her
“Nana” Jaden, Zoe, Kiley, Roman, T. Brandt, Porter, and Elias as well as her great
granddaughter, Brooklyn. She also had many nieces and nephews whom she adored greatly.
Her brother in law, John preceded her in death but is survived by 3 sister in laws, Beth (John),
Carolyn (Ed) and Margie (Mike).
Shelly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent her
professional career at Longwood University, retiring in the Spring of 2018. Shelly found joy in a
cold Dr. Pepper, HGTV, Judge Judy and planning family dinners for any occasion. Shelly loved
singing in the Pisgah Baptist church choir for many years and introduced many generations to
God. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Puckett Funeral Home, 115 Covington Ct.,
Farmville, VA 23901. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Centra Hospice
Farmville, 1705 East Third Street, Farmville VA 23901.
