Theresa Oertel Shelton "Tess"

Theresa "Tess" Oertel Shelton, age 83, of Farmville died Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was born

in Cumberland County, Virginia to Willie and Allie Browning Oertel on June 11, 1933. Known by her family and many friends as "Tess", she was a lifelong member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Tess was preceded in death by her husband, Walker "Rocky" D. Shelton.

Tess had a special love for music which was shared by her family, she loved to play the piano.

Perhaps she will be remember most for her ability to make everyone feel loved. Her nieces and nephews always thought of her as a second mom, always giving. Tess also loved playing cards and working puzzles.s

Tess is survived by a son; Leslie Wayne Shelton of Blacksburg, two daughters; Pamela S. Herrmann (John) of Blacksburg, Angela O. Shelton of Farmville, three grandchildren; Kayla Dawn Herrmann (Marko Stuparevic),

Jennifer Lauren Herrmann, Scott Mardyth Herrmann, one brother; Willie Oertel Jr. of Farmville, two sisters; Eliza O. Duncan of Lynchburg and Joyce O. Ingle of Cumberland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Walter Oertel and Robert Oertel, sisters,

Nancy Mildred Oertel, Dorothy O. Lynn, Gladys O. Orange, Christine O. Frazier, Minnie O. Taylor.

The Family received friends at Puckett Funeral Home Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM

A funeral service was held Monday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM with interment following in the church cemetery.
