After an inspirational and courageous fight against pancreatic cancer, Virginia Sheldon Cook, affectionately known as “Bunny” went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wilson F. Cook.
Bunny is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Waddill (John), and her sons: Fredrick Cook (Cristy) and Timothy Cook (Melinda). She was blessed with many grandchildren: Justin Cook (Billie), Andrew Cook (Katlyn), TJ Cook, Zach Cook (Kate), Lexi Cook, Devin Wallen (Michelle) , Virginia Waddill Barnes (Kirk), and John Thomas Waddill. She was also blessed with eight great grandchildren: Mason, Austin, Rhett, Riley, Samuel, Abigail, Caleb and Charlotte. Bunny is also survived by her sisters, Betty Baldwin, Shirley Sigler (Mike) and brother, Grover Sheldon (Jenness) , and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Michael (Bob) and many nieces and nephews.
Bunny loved to garden and watch her plants grow. She also loved going to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. She found joy in all that she did. Bunny especially enjoyed talking and visiting with all her many friends! Bunny had the strongest of faith and her motto through this journey was, “The Good Lord and I, we got this!” She always knew the Lord was by her side every step of the way. Her faith never waivered when she seemed to always have another bump in the road with the symptoms from the cancer. She continued to smile through it all.
Our very special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Centra Hospice of Farmville/Lynchburg for their excellent care in her final weeks. Another very special thanks to all her friends and neighbors that made her last weeks so precious!
