Keysville, VA

On Wednesday April 23rd, Wallace Wootten Wright of Keysville - loving husband, father, and grandfather - peacefully passed away at the age of 71. Wallace was affectionately known as “Wally,” “WW,” and his most cherished title, “Grands.” He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rachelle; son, Christopher (Anne Tyler Anderson); grandchildren, Chandler and Lukas; brother, Charles Wright of South Hill; daughter in law, Tamara Wright; longtime friend, Norman Taylor of Crewe; and best fur friend, Hank. Wallace was born on August 24 th , 1953, in Danville, VA to the late Walter C. Wright and Edna Church Wright. He spent most of his childhood summers on Rudd’s Creek in Boydton, VA, with his cousins and grandparents. He graduated from Randolph-Henry High School in 1972. Shortly after graduation, he went to work for Norfolk and Western Railroad, where he worked for over 20 years. He married his wife, Rachelle P. Wright, on June 8 th , 1974, and together they spent the next 50 years building a home and farm he took great pride in. After retirement, he dedicated many years working with investment properties, both farm and residential. In his free time, Wallace enjoyed harvesting hay, working cattle, hunting, and fishing. His spirit and dedication to his family and farm will live on for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Meherrin Volunteer Rescue Squad. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
