William James Neu

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to William James Neu Sr. of Farmville, VA. He was born in Queens, N.Y. and passed away on August 14, 2025 at age 85.

He was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Harry, his sister Margaret Ann and a son Christopher.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Brenda, sons Douglas, Kenneth (Kim), William (Ellen), Daniel (Danielle) and grandchildren Donna, Sean, Liam, Kelsey, Conner and Ryan.

Water was Bill’s element; he loved the ocean. In 1986 he got his U.S. Coast Guard operating small vessel license. He was certified SCUBA, enjoyed fishing, boating and listening to the waves.

Bill moved to Farmville in 1999 with Brenda and their wolfhounds Ned and Sovereign. Over the years there would be more wolfhounds, horses and cows. He loved the outdoors and country life. Bill was a proud U.S. Army veteran and member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Farmville.

Bill lived a full and rich life, always trying to improve and do better.
